Jamb
Vertical side face of a doorway or window.
Joist
A horizontal wooden or metal beam (such as a RSJ) used to support a structure such as a floor, ceiling or wall.
Junction box
An electrical fitting allowing a power or lighting circuit to be extended.
Key
To roughen a surface by scoring or sanding to provide a bond for any application of paint, plaster, rendering, tiles etc. Also spaces between laths or wire meshes which provide a grip for plaster.

Knotting Fluid
Sealer, made from shellac, that prevents wood resin bleeding through a surface finish.
Knurled
On a knob or handle, a series of fine grooves impressed into an edge or surface to improve the grip when turned or handled.
