Cooker Hood Sizes & Formats

Introduction

Most manufacturers design a matching hood for each of their cookers, or hobs, to create a complementary look. When purchased together, the two appliances are often offered at a discount.

Cooker hood sizes

Cooker hoods are most frequently available in widths to match the cooker beneath them;

  • 60cm (24in) wide to match standard width hobs or cookers and up to 120cm (48in) wide to sit symmetrically above a range cooker.

Cooker hood formats

Cooker hoods are available in 3 key formats;

A Standard Cooker Hood

Standard Hoods are usually at the value end of the market, but they are compact and neat.

An Integrated Cooker Hood

Integrated Hoods are designed to be hidden behind a shallow wall cupboard, and are usually activated by pulling the cupboard door forwards to create a kind of chimney and allows the fan to draw the hot air in.

A Canopy Cooker Hood

Canopy or Chimney Hoods are by far the most popular option nowadays despite being more expensive since they’re mostly finished in stainless steel. These cooker hoods are designed to be a key feature of the room.
