To achieve a more streamlined look, ovens can be separated from the hob and built in to kitchen cabinets either above the worktop in a ‘tower’ or beneath the worktop.
With the possible inclusion of a grill, these ovens can be mounted in a tower above the worktop level, or may be ‘built under’ beneath the worktop.
Being a single cavity, these ovens can be set at one temperature and can bake or grill, but not simultaneously, so handling multiple dishes can be tricky.
Often includes one large oven and a second smaller with an in-built grill. These can only be built into a tower above the worktop as they are too large to fit beneath.
Since there are two cooking cavities, a double oven is more flexible as it can cook dishes at different temperatures or bake while simultaneously grilling.
As 'built in', except these double ovens are designed to be fitted beneath a worktop and as such are shorter. This does, however, mean that the main oven is only 75% of the size of a 'built in' oven.
Although widely available as standalone appliances, several models are also available for building in. Many users find they get greatest convenience from a single oven 'built in', with a microwave on top, instead of a double 'built in' oven.
Since many microwaves now offer a grill function, and some even include a conventional oven function, these really can provide a flexible cooking solution.
